The turbine is an Enercon E44 rated at 900Kw and was financed by a grant from the Big Lottery Growing Community Assets Fund and a loan from Triodos Bank UK.

The energy generated is sold to SmartestEnergy Ltd who sell on the power to Marks & Spencer Scotland as part of their green policy.

The turbine is operated by Westray Renewable Energy Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Trust.
